Formula 1 used to be considered an extremely dangerous sport. Over the past few decades, stringent safety checks and features have made it far safer. And it now may be GT3 which is under scrutiny. This video shows the heart-stopping moment a 17-year-old GT3 driver crashed his car, flipping it nine times.
Pedro Piquet, the son of former Formula 1 driver Nelson Piquet, was knocked off the track and received medical attention onsite – at Autodromo Internacional Ayrton Senna. He is still recovering in hospital but remarkably, didn’t suffer any major injuries. He has since stated on social media “just a small scare, I am fine up here. Thanks for all the support”.
